Dateline: Southern California, United States of America – Thursday, August 12, 2010

Asia’s over. After five months of wandering through the land of white rice and brown people, I’m stateside to try my hand at a brief intermission; a break from my break, if you will. Fear not readers, I will, remain a traveler at home.

That means you can still come here for a break from your not-break. I won’t be writing as regularly (I am on a break, after all). I should, however, have enough here to keep you entertained. You can look forward to the following:

· New “intermission” travel entries–In the coming weeks I will visit my beloved San Francisco, camp out in Zion National Park, get a backstage pass to the San Francisco Zoo, and see what I can discover in the middle country of Hanford, California. I’ll break with convention a bit for these pieces—unlike the overseas travel posts, I won’t post them as of the day I experienced it; I’ll just post them as I finish them. If that doesn’t work for you, just drop me a note and I’ll process a full refund.

· A website redesign– Nothing big, just adding a page or two so it’s easier to navigate old entries.

· An “FAQ” section– Since I’ve been on the road people have asked me questions that, frequently, are the same. Thus, an FAQ.

· A rechristening—You may have noticed this site still has no name. Way back in March, I promised to give this place a name when I figured out what I had. That day is coming. (What can I say, I’m a procrastinator.)

· Gear reviews—Five months on the road teaches you a bit about your gear. I’ll share some of my insights with you. Discover what’s the most useful gadgets and the most useless gear. My experience can be your best teacher.

· A packlist—You’ll finally find out what I dragged around with me through Asia. At least the relevant stuff. I’ll spare you the list of books, snacks, and self sanitation products. Some things you just don’t’ want to know.

So don’t go away. I will continue to write so long as you continue to read. I’ll see you around.
